Prosafe has signed a contract with Petrobras Netherlands B.V. for the provision of the Safe Eurus semisubmersible vessel with 500-pax accommodation capacity for safety and maintenance support offshore Brazil. The $164m ($150k/d) will begin in 1Q2017 with a firm period commitment of three years.

Five interested in ONGC tender for jack-up pair
Five offshore drilling contractors are in the frame to provide a pair of high-specification jack-up rigs to ONGC on three-year charter terms, with the contracts together valued at more than $200m ($91k/d). Technical and price bids were submitted by India’s Jindal Drilling, Dynamic Drilling, Greatship and Aban Offshore, industry sources claimed. The UK’s Hallworthy Shipping also submitted a bid.

Songa holed on bottom line
Songa Offshore revealed 1Q2015 loss of $11.3m due to “significant delays and cost overruns” on the four Cat-D midwater semisubs being constructed for Statoil. The contractor has secured attractive dayrates of between $455,000 and $484,000, significantly higher than rates in the current depressed drilling market, on the lucrative eight-year charters for all four Cat-D rigs. Songa sold its older midwater semisubs Songa Venus and Songa Mercur to Opus Offshore in 2014.

ONGC launches tenders for five drilling units
ONGC has launched long-awaited tenders for five deep-water drillships or semi-submersibles for its huge KG-DWN-98/2 project off the country’s east coast, with a combined contract value of more than $1.5 bn. The five rigs should be capable of operating in water depths of up to 2,500 ft and 5,000 ft, respectively. Day rate are expected to be 30% to 40% lower compared to previous ONGC contracts due to a slack rig market and competitions.

Seven on call for PTK
Indonesia’s state-owned shipping company Pertamina Trans Kontinental (PTK) has taken delivery of two AHTS and five harbour tugboats costing a total $49m. The two AHTS will start long-term charter with Total at a dayrate of $9,000, while the five harbour tugs will start their long-term work with Pertamina at its near-shore terminal areas at a dayrate of $3,400.

BP axes Seadrill rig deal
BP has called an early end to a contract with a Seadrill Partners-owned semi-submersible rig, the West Sirius, which was on charter to the supermajor from July 2014 to July 2019 at $535,000 a day.

Yinson secures financing for OCTP FPSO conversion
Yinson Holdings has secured a $780M term loan facility, to partially finance the conversion of the FPSO vessel for Eni’s Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) project in Ghana. Estimated value of the 15-year firm charter commencing 2018 is $2.54 Bn ($464k/d), with total value up to $3.26 Bn if extended annually for up to 5 years ($395k/d).

Noble’s newbuild jack-up contract delayed
Noble and Apache have pushed back the contract start-up date for Noble’s newbuild jack-up in Australia, to Sep 2015 instead of Apr. The contract’s 18-mth duration to March 2017 remains intact, at dayrate $203,000.

Cut-price rate for Maersk newbuild
Maersk Drilling is accepting significantly lower day rates for a newbuild ultra-deepwater drillship to fill up a short-term contract. The deal with Total to carry out 45 days firm plus optional 40 days will yield a day rate of only around $378,000, way below premium rates of $600,000+ commanded about one year ago for such high-spec units.
Transocean may cool order plans
Transocean may not exercise options for three units at Sembcorp Marine given current industry sentiments. Transocean ordered in February 2014 for two deepwater units at a cost of $540m each. The contract included options for three sister vessels the first of which must be exercised by Feb 2015. Noble Corp recently said the re-contracted day rate of its semi-submersible Danny Adkins fell to $317,000 from $498,000.
