At least four in frame for Zawtika rig deal

SapuraKencana, Atlantica, Seadrill and Energy Drilling may be joined by Scorpio Drilling in bidding to supply a rig to drill more than 60 development wells for PTTEP’s Zawtika Phase 1B project on Block M-9 off Myanmar. The operator recently completed installation of the Zawtika Phase 1B process platform and three wellhead platforms. PTTEP is also considering conceptual development plans for the Kokonna and Gawthaka fields that would increase Block M-9’s reserves base and extend production from the main Zawtika field.

Energy Drilling lands tender rig contract

Singapore’s Energy Drilling has secured a contract to supply a high specification tender drilling rig to PTTEP for a firm three-year term, with options for two one-year extensions. The rig will be used for PTTEP’s upcoming programme on the Arthit and Bongkot fields, which is expected to start off the coast of Thailand in October.

PTTEP in hunt for new unit

PTTEP is calling in commercial bids in the next two weeks for a three-year tender assist drilling (TAD) contract in the Gulf of Thailand. Sapura­Kencana is a strong contender but would need to overcome challenge not least from emerging TAD start-up, Energy Drilling. The first of three TAD units under construction at Cosco Shipyard for Energy Drilling, EDrill-1 is due for delivery later this year. PTTEP is expected to use the latest TAD to go on its drilling fleet for campaigns in the Arthit or Bongkot fields.

COSCO starts construction of Edrill-3

COSCO Guangdong has started construction of Singapore owner Energy Drilling’s third semi-submersible tender drilling rig Edrill-3.
