KBR and Daewoo consortium has been awarded a FEED contract by Eni East Africa SpA for an FLNG facility for the Coral South Development Project located in Mozambique.

Eni has started to evaluate initial proposals from contractor groups vying to provide an FLNG in Mozambique’s deepwater Rovuma basin. Daewoo has teamed up with KBR, Samsung has joined forces with Technip and JGC, Hyundai has thrown its lot in with Chiyoda and Saipem. CB&I was rumoured to have pulled out of a Japanese consortium of IHI/MODEC/Toyo and linked up with China’s Hudong.

Eni floating an ITB for the FEED of a pair of FLNG units designed to serve its project off Mozambique. Eni would use one onshore LNG production train plus two FLNG units with up to 2.5mtpa capacity each to give a total capacity of 10mtpa.

Eni has reportedly invited companies to put forward FEED design proposals for a FLNG plan for the Area 4 field offshore Mozambique. A final investment decision is expected before the end of 2015, with production start-up due in 2020, aimed at Asian markets.

Jaya Holdings signed a two-year contract to charter its new build DP2 PSV “Jaya Vigilant” for operation in the Indian Ocean, offshore Mozambique. Jaya Vigilant, designed as a large PSV, is now being upgraded with additional equipment at Jaya’s own yard in Batam. Jaya Vigilant is the second of Jaya’s large PSVs. International oil companies need increasingly versatile OSVs to perform multiple tasks, especially in remote, frontier locations like East Africa, where there is no spot-market and only limited shore support.
