NYK in partnership with GDF Suez and Mitsubishi has signed a contract with Hanjin Heavy Industries to build the world’s first LNG bunkering vessel. The vessel will be delivered in 2016, and will be based at the port of Zeebrugge, Belgium. In Northern Europe, about 50 LNG-fueled vessels are already in operation, most of which are ferries, cruise ships, and offshore related vessels.
